Hi! Dominique Gibson is back with another post, this time with an announcement about my 1099 through Amazon. Last year, I was able to submit a 1099 form from Amazon to file my taxes. I made a total of around twenty-two dollars and some change which I was able to file along with my W-2 that I got from my job. It felt great. Even though I only made a small amount of money, I still felt proud of my work.
This time not so much.
I recently got the message from Amazon on my website saying that since I made less than ten dollars or less than six hundred dollars in royalties that I will not get a 1099. I kind of new this was going to happen considering how COVID-19 greatly impacted my publishing schedule. I didn’t publish anything in 2020. My plan was to publish An Orman’s Allegiance in late 2020 but that just didn’t happen.
Why? COVID-19. Ever since COVID-19 started, I have been in limbo when it came to my daycare job. There have been times where I was at home for months doing online work and wondering if I needed to be prepared for what was to come next. There were times where I would be feeling great but then there were other times where I was feeling low. I was wondering whether I would have a steady paycheck coming in.
That took a toll on me. Even though I was able to write my heart out during all of this, I wasn’t able to publish anything because of it. I wasn’t able to market anything either. I needed to save money in order to pay my bills. The only money I had left was for me to pay for a book coaching course online so that I could help writers write the books they desire and get paid for it in the process.
So I took the plunge. I paid for the course.
Because of COVID-19, I was scared to do much of anything. I paid for some cheap marketing to promote my novels but that was it. And now, I don’t have a 1099 from Amazon because I made less than ten dollars over the course of a year. Am I upset? No.
Maybe this year will be better…
