Article for Children’s authors: What NOT to do

Hi! Yes it’s me. I’m back with another article for the children’s authors out there who are interested in learning what NOT to do when it comes to self publishing your children’s book. This article provided some really good infomation about the steps children’s authors need to take in order for their self-published books to become more successful. As a self-published author, I think it’s really important to read as much information as you can about the self-publishing business in general and this article can be beneficial for children’s authors whose desire is to self-publish their own work.

Based on what I see from the literary agents and publishers now a days, you need to not only write your book, you need to illustrate your work as well for a literary agent to even consider your work. Why go through the hassle when you can self-publish your work and earn more royalties in the process? Anyways, if you want more information about what NOT to do when it comes to self-publishing your children’s book, check out the link below.

Giving the RWA a second chance: Entering the Vivian Contest

Yes, this post is for all of those romance writers out there who is interested in learning about contests that are available right now. One of those Contests includes the Vivian! Dominique Gibson is back with some info about The Vivian Contest, sponsored by the Romance Writers of America.

Despite the huge controversy surrounding Courtney Milan and the RWA scandal that happened last year (You can check out the link here ), I for one believe in giving people (Or in this case, an entire organization) another chance to fix the mistakes they have made in the past. It is for that reason that I have decided to enter the Vivian contest sponsored by the Romance Writers of America. I have put in my first entry for the contest and they have stated that they will give me a link to submit the PDF version of An Orman’s Revenge to upload to the contest after December 11th.

There have been a couple of new categories they have added to the contest in addition to not charging a fee for entrants who are entering the contest for the first time. However, you must create an account in order to login to the contest. For more information, you can check out their website at http://www.rwa.org.

That’s it for now. See you soon.

What does those book terms mean? Dissecting the truth

Hey authors, do you ever wonder what those terms mean every time a literary agent or a publisher talk about a debut author who has landed a “good deal” or talk about how a bestselling author has landed a “major deal” with a book publisher? Have no fear, Dominique Gibson is here to break it down to all of my traditionally published authors (even the ones that are aspiring authors who want to go the traditional publishing route). Are you ready? Let’s do this.

So, here is a general breakdown of what all of that lingo means:

Nice Deal = $1 to $49,000

Very nice deal = $50,000 to $99,000

Good deal = $100,000 to $250,000

Significant deal = $251,000 to $499,000

Major Deal = $500,000+

That’s it in a nutshell. So the next time you hear or read this type of publishing lingo, you will know exactly what it means.

A blog to follow for information about marketing: BookMarketingBuzzBlog

Hi, it’s me Dominique Gibson. I’m coming back with more info for all of my authors out there who might be interested in getting a heads up on what’s going on in the world of book publishing. I recently found this blog on Facebook (I know, I know, I spend way too much time on there but bare with me) and I just so happened to stumble upon this blog.

This blog offered some very good information I was interested in reading about when it came to book sales and how publishers and authors are surviving during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, they had a post on there about 60 factors on why your books that you are marketing might not selling or selling as much as they should. If you are interested in learning more information about this blog, you can check it out on the link below.

Another way to promote your work: Booksniffer

Hi! I’m back again with some more information for authors to use as part of their marketing strategy to promote their books. This is something I had found on Facebook the other day and I was dying to use it for my own book promotion considering I’m a little short on cash at the moment.

This website is called Booksniffer. According to their website, Booksniffer is an app that is used by readers to look up the latest books and novels on their phones using the Booksniffer app. For authors, they create an author page that links your own social media channels to their website and have the fans contact you directly to learn more information about you and your work. For more information about this, you can check out their website by clicking here.

That’s it for this post. Please be sure to check back on this website for more information, articles, and more. See you soon.
