Why I love reading romance novels

Hello, Dominique Gibson is back with another post. This post in particular relates to my daily stress that i have been going through lately in addition to why I love reading romance.

So, I will admit that I have been through a lot of stress for the last couple of months. For anyone that works in a daycare setting that’s teaching little ones, they already know just how stressful this job can truly be. I have been dealing with toddlers who haven’t been listening lately and been trying my best to find activities for them to do that supports their overall development. I have been dealing with planning lesson plans, doing observations and assessments, planning activities for the children, etc. and overall, my stress level has been on a scale of one to ten, na 11.

I desperately needed a break.

My PTO is just about gone considering my job has been closed down three times for COVID-19, not to mention I had to take three days off of work for a back injury. I can’t afford to take a vacation due to the circumstances right now (I would love to go someplace tropical at the moment to distress). So, what is a girl to do?

Read a romance novel.

But it wasn’t just any romance novel. I wanted to read a contemporary romance novel involving sexy billionaires who had lots of money and can afford to run their own businesses and not have to worry about being poor. I wanted to read about a heroine who can make her own money and doesn’t need the help of the hero for financial help but would take it if it was necessary to keep her or her family afloat until she will be able to obtain the kind of status the hero has. And I knew just what kind of book I wanted to read.

A Harlequin Desire novel.

The book that popped into my mind was Blame it on the Billionaire by Naima Simone. While I want give out the details about the book right now, I will say this is exactly the book I needed for an escape from my everyday world as a toddler teacher right now. Or just as a teacher in general. It has a sexy billionaire as a hero, a strong-willed heroine who will do anything for her family, and a fake marriage that would make a woman like me swoon and wonder: I wish I could be her right now…

That’s why I read romance novels. I need the escape every once in a while…

My first love has always been writing since I was eight years old. After getting my Bachelor's Degree in Fiction Writing from Columbia College Chicago and struggling for years trying to get published the traditional way, I decided that the only way to promote my work was to promote myself which is why I am self-publishing my paranormal romance The Truson S.E.T. Series.
