What’s one thing you wish you had started doing earlier in life?
The one thing that I will always regret when it comes to my life is not taking the time to learn about investing. I knew a lot about saving money because of my family but no one in my family knew nothing about investing or retirement.
By the time I found out, I felt like I had missed the boat. Although I am still not old enough to retire, I always wondered what my life would be like if I had invested in myself when it came to having a 401K or an IRA back in my younger years. Would I have been a millionaire by now if I had investments at the age of 21? From 21 to 41 is twenty years!!!! Twenty years I had missed out on financial opportunities to save for retirement.
All because I was never taught how to invest in stocks, bonds, or even real estate. No financial literacy was taught about how to run a business or even how to invest for retirement. I was taught to keep that job for the longest time possible, save up money, and use credit cards to make emergency payments when the cash gets too low.
Oh well, when you know better, you do better I guess. Now I have to start all over again in another country to try my best to have enough money to live on my retirement. I have to explore opportunities in another language that is not my own.
Life is tough but I still have to keep going right?
