Feel like giving up? Here is proof that you shouldn’t

Hi! Dominique Gibson is back with another post. So, I’m not sure if I ever posted this or, if I did, then I’m not sure which post it was but I’m just going to post it anyways just to give you a heads up on what I did back in April of this year and what the results were.

So, I recently submitted the first book of my paranormal romance series, An Orman’s Revenge, into a contest called Readers’ Favorite Book Reviews and Awards Contest back in April. The whole goal of this contest was for me to gain more exposure when it came to my work. I started doing some research and one advice I was given was to enter my self-published titles into writing and self-publishing contests so that’s what I started doing. I actually entered one contest that was for a writing retreat but considering I didn’t have any extra money at the time to pay the difference, I had to refuse the invitation.

Hopefully, I will be able to send you a copy of that email in a future post.

But, as I previously stated, I entered into their annual book writing competition back in April. Although I won’t have the results until after September 1st, this contest included a FREE book review of my work. Well, after receiving the review of my first book, An Orman’s Revenge, I am happy to say that I have received a 5 star review! You can click on the link below for more information about the review if you are interested.

This post wasn’t for me to toot my own horn. My post is for those aspiring self-publishing authors who feels like giving up after putting your work out into the world only for them to get disappointed when there are no reviews and no support. Who have been trying for years to get noticed but feels like a failure when no one wants to read your book for whatever reason.

I’m here to tell you NOT to give up. Keep trying. And maybe one day, you will end up with a five star critique like I did.

See you soon.

My first love has always been writing since I was eight years old. After getting my Bachelor's Degree in Fiction Writing from Columbia College Chicago and struggling for years trying to get published the traditional way, I decided that the only way to promote my work was to promote myself which is why I am self-publishing my paranormal romance The Truson S.E.T. Series.
